Clare Waight Keller at Uniqlo is a collection of sophisticated, high-quality essentials for the modern woman of any age. The clothes combine a boyish oversized aesthetic, with a soft fluid feminine silhouette, to create an effortless everyday style. These are exactly the kind of timeless and effortless clothes I like to buy, knowing that I will wear them year after year.
The collection launches on 15th September 2023.
I’m sure that this collection will fly off the shelves, so if you don’t want to be disappointed, make a note of the date in your diary and shop early.
Who is Clare Waight Keller?
This is Clare’s bio from the Uniqlo : C Page.
‘British-born designer Clare Waight Keller has worked at many of the world’s top fashion houses and has been the Creative Director of some of the world’s best-known luxury brands in London and Paris, where she oversaw ready-to-wear and couture collections. In 2018 she won Womenswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards. She was named one of the most influential people of 2019 at TIME Magazine’s TIME 100 Awards.’
Oh, and she designed Meghan Markle’s Wedding dress…
Clare describes the essence of her collection as:
“All the things I think are so essential in a woman’s wardrobe; from the key coat shapes, the femininity and the versatility, to the idea of things that go from city to country. There’s a sense of ease and movement, as well as a complete everyday wardrobe that’s timeless and effortless.”
Colour Palette
Clare’s collection combines the timeless neutrals of Black, brown, grey, beige and navy with a vibrant seasonal palette of vivid blues, rich gold, zesty lemon and soft pink. The colour pops add warmth, richness and an autumnal depth.
My 5 Key Pieces
1.The Pleated Colour Block Skirt
A beautiful satin pleated skirt with a graphic band across the bottom. It comes in three colour ways: Lemon and white, brown and gold and black and dark blue. It could be dressed up to wear for an evening out, or dressed down with a big oversized sweater and boots for everyday use. A lovely feminine skirt that will swirl and move around you as you walk. I’m sure this one will sell quickly so get in early. Personally I’d like to buy one in all three colourways.
2. Corduroy Wide Leg Trousers
These trousers have a comfy boyfriend style that’s perfect for effortless everyday wear. The soft corduroy comes in lovely warm shades of deep gold, strong blue, black and bubblegum pink.
3. Chiffon Pleated Long Sleeve Dress
I am not really a dress wearer, but I love this one. It has a gorgeous ethereal fluidity and those amazing sleeves. Perfect for the older lady who likes to cover up her arms but not look dowdy. It would look fantastic layered with a polo neck, a cropped or boyfriend cardigan or a chunky oversized jumper. Drawstrings make this dress adjustable, meaning you can create different silhouettes by adjusting the drawstrings in various ways. I love the blue pictured, but it also comes in off-white and brown.
4. Padded Blouson Jacket
Another ‘boyfriend’ piece that goes perfectly with cords or jeans but also works with a soft chiffon skirt. I like the boxy, cropped oversize silhouette. It comes in gold, black, beige and blue.
5. Trench Coat
A timeless and classic trench coat in water-resistant gaberdine twill. It has a generous fit and all of the classic detailing you would expect from a high-end British trench. A classic check lining adds to the quality feel.
And an honourable mention …
Clare Waight Keller at Uniqlo is all about layering. So here are some of my favourite styling pieces.
